New Building

Side by Side is committed to enriching the lives and education of its students within a positive learning environment. The unique motivation and structure for educating children with special needs, alongside those without, exemplifies a cultural acceptance that extends its hand to further more children, parents and communities.

With this in mind, Side by Side have set their sights, efforts and attention towards establishing a brand new premises, with state-of-the-art facilities, to accommodate the influx of new students, with and without learning disabilities.

In September 2006, land contracts were exchanged for a plot previously home to the Avigdor Primary School, 65-67 Lordship Road. Whilst acknowledging this as a hugely positive transition, Side by Side must raise the £10m necessary sponsorship and donation required to construct and fully-equip the new school building.

Educating children with diverse needs and disabilities, the new school will be built accordingly, with specialist facilities to assist the growth and progression of each student. Sensory rooms, hydrotherapy pools, gymnasiums and a music centre are amongst the many resources, proposed for the site relocation and development.

Designed to enhance the lives of both the students and their families, accessibility has been considered an important factor. Easy access is essential to Side by Side, thus the design incorporates multiple drop-off points at the main entrance and disability provisions throughout. The spacious, multi-functioning building will facilitate all practical elements required to ensure comfort, security, safety and convenience, whilst remaining warm and welcoming at all times.
